CATARACT

SURGERY

A cataract is the term used to describe the clouding of the natural lens inside your eye. This clouding can prevent light and images from reaching your retina, thus causing blurred eye sight, muted colors and stained night vision.  Reading glasses or bifocals are unable to overcome the effects of cataracts. The  optimum treatment for cataracts is Refractive Cataract Surgery, a hybrid of traditional cataract surgery combined with state-of-the-art refractive procedures  to remove the clouded lens and replace it with a new, artificial one. This surgery will also eliminate or diminish the need for glasses, contact lenses or reading glasses.

Presbyopia is the term to describe the loss of the eye’s ability to focus on objects that are close up.  It is often found in persons with cataracts.  Refractive Cataract Surgery is also used to correct this condition through the use of an implanted artificial lens.

INTRAOCULAR LENS OPTIONS

STAAR® nanoFLEX

The STAAR™ nanoFLEX™ is designed to provide sharp image quality and improves sharpness. It also reduces spherical aberration and improves contrast sensitivity. The optics were designed using a curved retina model that most closely simulates the situ conditions. Most competitor aspheric optics have been designed using a flat retina model and do not compensate for decentration and tilt.
